How I practice psychotherapy has been routed the in Haudenosaunee belief of “The Seven Generations”.
This principle in based on The Great Law of the Iroquois Confederacy.
The energy and experiences of the previous 7 generations has been passed onto you and your generation. Are your people survivors, having lived through atrocities? Many have fought battles, within the world or within themselves with having those conflicts being passed on to the next generation; their histories and your history have had an influence on your path.
You are the one who can heal old wounds for yourself and the next 7 generations by shifting conditioning and beliefs, and releasing pain that has held preceding generations captive. This is the gift you bring them, for as they departed to the Spirit World, they left behind the energy, or the effects of their trauma, that they had not been able to heal on their journey.
When one heals and transforms the wounds they carry from previous generations and their own histories, one is also changing the trajectory of the next 7 generations. Those who follow will have a different foundation for their path to begin if one were to break the chain of addiction, violence or other inherited, limiting beliefs. Our children and their children and those who follow them are given possibilities not available to their ancestors.
The wounds one carries dims their light. As you continue on your healing path, the light that you already have shines brighter and begins to reflect outward so that others might find their own way in the darkness.
As you apply the Seventh Generation Principle to your healing, you can influence the histories and energies of the next 7 generations to come.

Psychotherapy is a type of therapy that is intended to help people improve and maintain their mental health and well-being.
Together, you and your psychotherapist work to bring about positive changes in your thinking, feeling, behavior and social functioning.
Psychotherapy can provide help with a range of problems from anxiety and trauma to addictions and stress – anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by their problems or their situation can benefit.
The therapist-client bond is the most important part of the therapeutic process, which is why I strive to create a strong and trusting bond with clients. I believe that when a foundation of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and caring is created, true change can begin to occur.
The benefit of using a holistic approach to healing is that takes into consideration the whole person - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I believe that psychotherapy is a pathway for growth and healing. It is an opportunity for the client to explore his or her own thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.
